The Carrus City U, officially the Carrus 204 U is the newest member of the Carrus City family. The City U was the first fully low floored bus to be manufactured in Finland. The whole bus has just one step which is located at the back door. The first prototype City U, distinguished by it's one-part windscreen was taken into use in 1995. Wider use of the model begun in 1996 and there are currently (1999) close to sixty City U's in use in the Helsinki City region. Being best suited for central city traffic, the City U is onyl operated by HKL and STA.
When combined with the technically advanced Volvo B10L chassis this bus is close to perfection. In our opinion the City U is among the best buses to be produced by Finnish bodywork manufacturers, although it is now to be superceded by the Volvo B7L/(Carrus) 7000 combination.
