This highly popular Mercedes model has spread rather widely in the Helsinki City Region as well. Along with its CNG powered sister this is the only model used by Tammelundin Liikenne. The diesel version has the benefit of a rather impressive engine sound that can be heard while sitting on the back seat. On the down side the same sound can be heard rather too clearly on the outside of the bus too. This bus has a fully low floor with one step at the back door, which is usually a double door. The seats are quite comfortable, but have rather short backrests.
Corners are driven fast and with tilt, at least by Liikenne drivers. The suspension also seems to be rather flexible as an O 405 N waiting at some traffic lights demonstrated to us: front up - tilt to the left - tilt to the right and so on. It is now evidently quite possible to get seasick in a bus. Isn't modern technology wonderful?
