The Omnicty was tested and photographed as soons as it was spotted (5.1999). The Omnicity is the first bus used on normal routes to have a low floor from front to back. Unfortunately this costs a lot of seats, leaving only 34 of them.
The Omnicity is good looking both on the in- and outsides. The main colour on the inside is grey with blue for the seats. The loud operating noise characteristic of Scania bus doors has been put under control and this might be the reason for fitting the bus with a total of six doors (2+2+2). The seats are well cushioned and the bus offers a pleasant ride apart from the suspension being in the habit of running out for manouvering space, causing a nasty bump for th passengers. This means the Omnicty can only be used on well serviced city roads and with its multitude of doors and standing places (over 50) that is exaclty what it is meant for.
Lahden autokori manufactures versions of the Omnicity that differ in length from the standard 12 metres. They are not quite as stylish, but a 13 metre model could be nice, if it has even four extra seats.
