Unlike its sister model the bogie version f the Carrus City L can also be built as a fully low floored version. This is made possible by the lengthening of the bus to 14,5 metres, which allows the slope at the rear to climb the height difference of two steps. The extra axle is technically the equivalent of a truck axle mounted the wrong way round and it is slightly steered by friction, allowing for a tighter turn radius than with a conventional bogie structure.
Extending the bus allowes for a substantially increased amount of seats and this model has gained popularity on longer routes, even replacing articulated buses. The bogie solution seems to create an optimally sized bus as moreand more bogie buses have appeared into the traffic of the Helsinki City Region during 1998 and 1999. It is probable that th number of bogie buses will continue to grow now that YTV requires at least 43 seats for all new regional routes, although it is possible to fit conventional low entry or semi low floored buses with 43 seats if the are built as 13 (12,96) metre versions.
